Storytler is a software tool that helps nonprofit organizations collect, organize, and draft donor communications from stories, updates, asks, voice memos, written uploads, and related materials.

This Privacy Policy explains how Corner To City LLC (“Storytler,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information through Storytler, including information submitted by nonprofit users, staff members, invited contributors, and people who submit stories through a shared intake link.

By using Storytler, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you use Storytler on behalf of an organization, you also confirm that you are authorized to provide information to us on that organization’s behalf.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • nonprofit organizations that create or manage Storytler accounts;
  • staff, volunteers, contractors, board members, or other authorized users of those organizations;
  • people who submit stories, updates, recordings, photos, or written materials through a Storytler intake link;
  • people whose personal information may appear in submitted stories or materials; and
  • visitors to Storytler pages, including beta pages, login pages, intake pages, and related product pages.

Storytler is currently intended for use in the United States only. Storytler is not intended for use by children under 13.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in several ways.

A. Account and Organization Information

When an organization or user creates an account or uses Storytler, we may collect:

  • name;
  • email address;
  • organization name;
  • role or title;
  • login credentials or authentication information;
  • organization settings;
  • billing information, if paid plans are offered in the future;
  • usage limits, plan settings, and administrative preferences.

B. Story, Newsletter, and Uploaded Content

Storytler allows users and contributors to submit content that may include:

  • typed stories;
  • voice recordings;
  • transcripts;
  • summaries;
  • notes;
  • photos;
  • captions;
  • donor updates;
  • requests or asks;
  • newsletters;
  • drafts;
  • uploaded documents;
  • written samples;
  • organizational communications;
  • names or descriptions of people connected to the organization’s work;
  • information about beneficiaries, clients, volunteers, staff, donors, or community members.

Submitted stories may include personal information about someone other than the person submitting the story. For example, a staff member may submit a story about a beneficiary, client, student, child, volunteer, or family served by the organization.

Organizations and contributors are responsible for making sure they have the necessary permission to submit stories and materials to Storytler.

C. Drop-Link Contributor Information

If an organization shares a Storytler intake link with you, we may collect:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the organization you are submitting to;
  • any shared organization password or access code entered;
  • the date and time of submission;
  • consent acknowledgment records;
  • uploaded text, audio, photos, documents, or other materials;
  • technical information associated with the upload, such as IP address, browser type, and device information.

Drop-link submissions are intended for internal organizational review before publication or use in donor communications.

D. Audio Recordings and Transcripts

Storytler may allow users or contributors to record or upload audio. If you submit audio, we may collect:

  • the audio recording;
  • transcript text generated from the audio;
  • summaries or extracted story elements;
  • metadata related to the upload, such as date, time, organization, uploader, and processing status.

You should not upload audio that contains another person’s voice unless all recorded speakers have consented to the recording and the submission of that recording for organizational review and possible use in donor communications.

E. Photos and Media

Users may upload photos or other media for use in story review or newsletter drafting. Photos and media may contain personal information, including a person’s image, likeness, location, or other identifying details.

You should not upload photos, videos, or other media of identifiable people unless your organization has permission to use them for the intended purpose.

F. Sensitive Information

Storytler is not designed to collect highly sensitive personal information through low-friction intake workflows. You should not submit sensitive information unless your organization has obtained the necessary permission and has determined that the information is appropriate for use in donor communications.

Sensitive information may include:

  • medical or mental health information;
  • disability information;
  • immigration status;
  • legal status;
  • criminal history;

  • financial account information;
  • government identification numbers;
  • religious, racial, ethnic, or other sensitive identity information where disclosure may create risk.

We may restrict, delete, or refuse to process content that we believe contains sensitive information that is inappropriate for Storytler.

G. Minors

Storytler is not intended for use by children under 13.

Do not submit stories, audio, photos, videos, or other materials involving a minor unless your organization has obtained written permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian and has determined that the submission is appropriate.

If we learn that Storytler has collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate parental consent, we may delete that information.

Storytler generates draft communications. Organizations remain responsible for reviewing, editing, approving, and deciding whether to publish or send any content.

4. AI Processing

Storytler may use artificial intelligence tools and service providers to transcribe, summarize, categorize, rewrite, and generate draft communications from submitted content.

This may include sending submitted text, audio transcripts, notes, and related materials to third-party AI service providers for processing on our behalf.

We do not use customer content to intentionally identify private individuals outside the purpose of providing Storytler. We do not sell customer content. We do not use customer content for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Organizations are responsible for making sure they have the rights and permissions needed to submit content to Storytler for AI processing.

5. Internal Review Before Publication

Submitted stories, including drop-link submissions, are intended to be reviewed by authorized organization staff before use in a newsletter or donor communication.

Storytler may provide tools to help organize or draft content, but the organization is responsible for:

  • reviewing submitted stories;
  • confirming permissions;
  • removing or changing identifying details where appropriate;
  • deciding whether a story is appropriate to use;
  • obtaining any required releases;
  • complying with laws, donor communication standards, child-safety rules, privacy obligations, and organizational policies.

6. How We Share Information

We may share information as described below.

A. With the Organization

7. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use submitted stories to target advertising to people across unrelated websites or services.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent.

We do not authorize organizations to publish or send content without their own review and approval.

8. Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Storytler, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support organization account history.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods, including:

  • account information while an account remains active;
  • story submissions while they remain in an organization’s workspace, story bank, archive, or newsletter history;
  • audio files and transcripts while needed for review, generation, recordkeeping, or organization use;
  • security logs and audit records for a reasonable period;
  • deleted information for a limited period in backups or logs, unless immediate deletion is legally or technically required.

Storytler may offer archive features that hide or remove content from active views without immediately deleting it. Archive is not the same as permanent deletion.

Organizations may request deletion of content by contacting us. We may also provide product controls for deletion. Some information may remain in backups, logs, or records where retention is legally, technically, or operationally necessary.

9. Deletion and Removal Requests

If you submitted a story or believe a story about you has been submitted to Storytler, you may contact the organization that collected the story or contact us at gabe.wong@cornertocity.com.

We may need information to verify the request and locate the relevant content, such as:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the organization involved;
  • the approximate date of submission;
  • a description of the story or content;
  • your relationship to the story.

Depending on the circumstances, we may delete the content, restrict access, refer the request to the organization, or ask the organization to review the request.

For stories involving minors, parents or legal guardians may request review or deletion by contacting us at gabe.wong@cornertocity.com.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure.

Storytler provides tools, but organizations control the content they submit, approve, export, publish, or send.

12. California Privacy Notice

If California privacy laws apply to us or to your information, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of personal information, subject to legal exceptions.

The categories of personal information we may collect are described in this Privacy Policy, including identifiers, account information, submitted content, audio, photos, organization information, device information, usage information, and in some cases sensitive information included in submitted content.

We do not sell personal information.

Storytler is not directed to children under 13.

Do not allow children under 13 to create accounts or submit information through Storytler.

Do not submit content involving minors unless your organization has obtained appropriate written permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Storytler is currently intended for use in the United States only. Do not use Storytler if your organization requires compliance with non-U.S. privacy laws unless we have agreed in writing to support those requirements.

15. Changes to This Policy
